What we took years to build, the robust fire consumed
in less than an hour. Wangdue Phodrang Dzong was, for long, known for its historic
stand but yesterday the fire, which broke out in the evening, made it collapse
to the ground. Our history is no more a standing concrete but ashes now. With
the loss of the Dzong, we have lost to the natural calamity, one of Zhabdrung’s
most important contributions to our country. It is a sad moment to recollect
that we have burnt down not only our history but future too.
